With the implementation of EMEA/CVMP/627/01 and VICH GL27, marketing authorisation of an antimicrobial requires sufficient data on susceptibility and resistance patterns of the target pathogens.As a major European service provider to the animal health industry with regard to the conduct of field studies (according to GCP) and the collection of veterinary pathogens, KLIFOVET AG has initiated a bacterial culture collection in collaboration with various laboratories in Western and Eastern Europe and with Don Whitley Scientific Ltd.
Don Whitley Scientific Ltd offers MIC determination of the isolates according to current NCCLS guidelines and a complete portfolio of other microbiological studies with regard to antimicrobial efficacy, resistance development and residue safety.
A protocol for the culture collection project was signed between KLIFOVET AG and Don Whitley Scientific Ltd. in 2002, to ensure that a complete history is obtained for each isolate in accordance with EMEA/CVMP/627/01. The collection is ongoing, but isolates and their accompanying history may be purchased at any time.
